Happy New Year!

from the Alamance Racial Equity Alliance

Welcome to the Alamance Racial Equity Alliance newsletter! As we walk alongside one another in 2025, it is so very important that time is spent building relationships. A key focus of our work this year will be just that: getting to know one another and deepening those connections.

We are a community of anti-racist people that encourages the transformation of thought through collective learning, meaningful relationships, and community events.

Our purpose is to end racism.

Join us on Saturday, January 18th from 10am-2pm to craft actions and strategies for 2025! This will operate as our planning meeting for January (no meeting on January 23rd).

There will be food, relationship building, and plenty of dreaming of ways we can end racism in our community. Our retreat will take place at the cozy home of Tanya Kline. The address will be shared after you register.

Invitation to Serve on the Alamance Racial Equity Alliance Board.

January 2025 Community Event
This will replace caucus for January.

We are honored to announce that in collaboration with the African-American Cultural Arts & History Center and the Alamance County Community Remembrance Coalition, we will be hosting an in-person gathering to observe the National Day of Racial Healing!

Tuesday, January 21st from 5-7pm
The African-American Cultural Arts & History Center
2381 Corporation Pkwy, Burlington, NC 27215

This is a FREE community offering and no registration is required. We will have a light agenda, but we are most looking forward to coming together to hold space for healing.

What is the National Day of Racial Healing?

The National Day of Racial Healing is a time to contemplate our shared values and create the blueprint together for #HowWeHeal from the effects of racism. Launched in 2017, it is an opportunity to bring ALL people together and inspire collective action to build common ground for a more just and equitable world.

What is Racial Healing?

Racial healing is the experience shared by people when they speak openly and hear the truth about past wrongs and the negative impacts created by individual and systemic racism. Racial healing helps to build trust among people and restores communities to wholeness, so they can work together on changing current systems and structures so that they affirm the inherent value of all people.
